Kicking Off Our 60th Year:
Fashion Show at Parkside Yard
A Celebration of Dedication, Style, Confidence & Inclusion!
Wow—what a way to launch our 60th anniversary celebrations! Our fashion show at Parkside Yard was the very first event to mark this special milestone for Ealing Mencap, and it truly set the tone for an incredible year ahead. The venue was filled with excitement as our members stepped onto the runway—many for the first time—radiating confidence and pride.
From the moment the show began, the atmosphere was electric. Cheered on by a supportive crowd and inspired by special guests including the Mayor of Ealing and Mayoree, Sarah Gordy MBE, Daniel Wakeford, Deirdre Costigan MP, and Rupa Huq MP, our models embraced the spotlight. The MeTime Pop Choir’s performance lifted spirits even higher, making the evening feel truly magical.
The impact was clear in the words of our members who walked as models. Adrian shared, “Before I was feeling nervous and excited all in one… but I feel good after the fashion show.” Bukky told us, “Everyone was cheering while I was walking down the catwalk. It was very exciting.” Dimple added, “It made me feel really happy. I liked my hairstyle and choosing my clothes with the stylists.”
Families in the audience described the show as a truly empowering experience, sharing how proud and moved they were to see their loved ones shining on the runway and the confidence it gave them.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this event possible. Special thanks go to Model of Diversity for their partnership and inspiration, to Berkeley Homes for their generous support, and to the many volunteers, stylists, photographers, and supporters who contributed their time and energy. Your commitment and enthusiasm helped create an unforgettable night that celebrated diversity, inclusion, and the incredible spirit of our community.
As we look ahead to the rest of our 60th year, we invite you to join us—whether as a volunteer, supporter, or participant. Together, we can continue to create opportunities for people with learning disabilities to shine.
