University of West London, Ealing Internship

Join a supported internship programme that’s designed to develop your workplace skills in a variety of support departments from Finance to maintenance to help you find a paid job.

At DFN Project Search University of West London in Ealing, you will join a supported internship programme hosted at this high-status local business. You will be supported to develop your workplace skills to enable you to progress into paid employment.

If you’re aged 18 to 24 and have an EHCP plan, you can apply for one of 12 intern positions on our DFN Project Search University of West London program. On average 9 out of 12 interns (75%) successfully gain full-time paid employment at the end of the course.

What do you do during the internship?

  • Spend one day a week with a tutor, studying English, maths, IT and life skills.
  • Learn to meet the same high work standards as any other member of support staff.
  • Work within a different department each term. Opportunities include: Reception, HR/Admin, Finance, Cafe, Pillars restaurant, Library, maintenance, Cleaning.

What support do you get?

  • Two job coaches from Ealing Mencap, a tutor and a classroom support from West London College are based at the University to give you as much on-the-job support as you need.
  • Department staff buddies work alongside you in each department. They already have the skills you’ll be learning and, with the job coaches, will act as mentors and guides.

What happens when you graduate?

When you graduate, you get support in finding a paid job. We have an excellent record in supporting interns to find paid work.
