MY TOWN
Make the most of your weekend by joining our membership group, to enjoy supported activities taking place in the local community.
Young people with additional needs/EHCP/disabilities/autism/ told us they want to be able to get out and about at the weekend, to socialise and make friends while enjoying activities and events in their area.
They told us they don’t want ‘special’ services tucked away in ‘special needs’ buildings. They want ordinary lives doing what other young people do, but told us there wasn’t enough support to help them do that.
So we created MY TOWN, as a new way to bring young people together and enjoy their weekend.
How it works….
MY TOWN is a new youth service facilitated by Ealing Mencap and directed by young people who are members. It encourages choice, independence, community inclusion and greater control over social time.
Members decide what activities they want to be supported to enjoy, and Ealing Mencap puts together a calendar of weekend events taking place in the Borough. Young People/their guardians view the calendar on our safe and secure online membership hub and choose the events they wish to attend. Bookings are made and confirmed by paying £10 in advance for each activity the young person wants to come to.
Members and their guardians can share information, find resources, post pictures/videos of their weekend fun and socialise with each other through the closed membership hub. Bringing people together and building relationships beyond the weekend events.

£18.65 per hour for young people eligible for social care services
£14 per hour for young people with direct payments/personal budgets and self-funders
(This pays for Ealing Mencap organising and providing staff at the events/activities on a 1:3 or 1:4 basis)
Young people/their families are required to contribute £10 per session to pay for admission fees/event costs and this must be paid in advance to book a space
