Work experience

Take a step towards paid employment by adding to your skills and increasing your workplace confidence.

Work experience can be a step towards paid employment, increasing your skills and giving you confidence in the workplace. It gives you a chance to experience a real working environment.

Where can you work?

At Ealing Mencap, we work with many local businesses and charities to find work experience opportunities to suit different people’s skill levels and interests. Organisations where people have had work placements include:

  • ACER
  • Boots Ltd
  • Gurnell Leisure Centre
  • British Heart Foundation shop
  • League of Friends shop
  • Noon (Kerry Foods)

What support do you get?

  • Before you start your work experience, we make sure the employer understands what type of tasks will be suitable for you. And that they understand how to help you to develop your skills.
  • A job coach prepares you for work experience and supports you during your first weeks. You can always call on them if you are having problems (for example, understanding how to do a specific task).
