Ealing Partners represents people with a learning disability at Ealing’s Learning Disability Partnership Board. The Power Group is made up of 10 elected reps who speak up for people with a learning disability about important local issues.
What is the Learning Disability Partnership Board?
This is a group that has to make sure the ideas and plans of the Department of Health (Valuing People) are being used to make life better for people with a learning disability. It is important that everyone has a say about how services could be made better. People with a learning disability, carers, service providers and professionals all work together to make decisions and changes to help people in Ealing.
What is the Power Group?
The power group is 10 elected reps that speak up and are asked their opinion about important issues that affect people with learning disabilities in Ealing. This means that everyone is able to have their views listened to about things discussed at the meetings. Everyone at the meeting should follow the agenda because this says what topic everyone is going to discuss and give their views on. The minutes are a record of what has been agreed and said the meetings.
At the meetings some guests will give presentations. These presentations can be on the computer, a flip chart, handouts or in person. During the presentations everyone listens to what is being said and ask questions at the end. Reps from the Power group will need to make a presentations at Ealing’s Partnership Board, it will need to be about things that they have discussed or talked about since the last Partnership Board. Sometimes these presentations can be about issues or campaigns that the whole power group feels is very important.
