Initially the council had said it would be stopping the rent on the Carers Centre in April and had suggested an alternative location which proved to be unsuitable.
Following a high profile campaign by users of the centre who were very concerned about this decision, the council has now informed ECIL and Ealing Mencap that, although the long-term plans are still for the carers centre and DAB to be relocated, they will not be stopping the payment of rent for the building until they have found suitable alternative accommodation.
A list on requirements has been passed onto the council, including wheelchair access, office space for the advice and advocacy services, interview and meeting rooms, so they can continue to look for an alternative that will meet our needs and those of carers across the borough.
Well done to everyone involved.
