Posted by Maurice on October 11 2007 - 10:30:47

You should already have the right software on your computer to view the report, but if not you can download Adobe Reader for free from here: Adobe Reader Website

This year's report is interactive, and has lots of clickable links to other websites. But it is quite big this year, and if you're on dialup it could take an hour or so to download, but just a couple of minutes on broadband. Enjoy!

Christmas Card Sale - Great Cards for A Great Cause!
Posted by Maurice on October 20 2006 - 15:40:47
It's nearly that time of the year again (believe it or not!) so why not get ahead this year and buy all your Christmas cards, wrapping and gifts from the Mencap Christmas Catalogue?

Paula Hardy is the new contact for the Christmas goods this year, as Brenda, Pat and Margaret Perks have decided it was about time to take a back seat after many years and inimitable hard work organising the catalogue.

If you would like to get one of the Christmas catalogues, please get in touch wth Paula by phone on 020 8248 9244 or by post addressed to 229 Kingshill Avenue, Northolt, Middx, UB5 6PA.

Or, if you pop along to Enterprise Lodge on Tuesday evenings or Saturday mornings from mid-October you can place an order in person. The dates and times for placing orders this way are below. CLICK HERE for a map to Stockdove Way.

The Christmas Card Charity Shop will again be open at the YMCA in St. Mary's Road, South Ealing and we will again have a number of our cards on sale there.

We have stocks of cards, paper and some calenders as well as most items up to the value of £10.00. Anything that we have to order will take up to 14 days, but the nearer it gets to Christmas the busier things get so it's best to get in early! Any personalised goods usually take two to three weeks to come.

Also, if you want to make any donations through the catalogue, be sure to tick the Gift Aid box to ensure we can get the most out of your donation. A £10.00 donation would actually be worth £12.80 to us with Gift Aid, and won't cost you a penny more! Please make sure you're eligible to make a Gift Aid donation - all the details are at http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/charities/gift-aid.htm

Get your Christmas goodies at Enterprise Lodge, Stockdove Way on:

Tuesday 21st November 7.15 - 8.45pm

Saturday 25th November 11.00am - 12.15pm

Tuesday 28th November 7.15 - 8.45pm

Tuesday 5th December 7.15 - 8.45pm

Tuesday 12th December 7.15 - 8.45pm
Well done, Tess!
Posted by Maurice on October 20 2006 - 15:03:09

Thursday Club volunteer Tess Morton has raised just over £400 for Ealing Mencap by recently completing the Great North Run in just under two hours.

Tess finished the 13.1 mile half-marathon in 1 hour and 58 minutes, 29 seconds which meant she had to run at a speed of a bout a mile every nine minutes.

Tess said, "The atmosphere was amazing, and it was nice to know I was running with so many other like-minded people who wanted to do it for a personal acheivement but also to raise money for worthy causes."

The money Tess raised will be split between the Thursday Club and the Enterprise Lodge Development fund.
Ealing Mencap - A Manifesto

A MANIFESTO ON BEHALF OF LEARNING DISABLED PEOPLE FOR THE NEW ADMINISTRATION JUNE 2006

The election of a new Council provides opportunities for reflection and review. The rejection of the previous Administration, while no doubt influenced by national trends, cannot be seen as an endorsement of local services.

The campaign around Heller House last year reminded us how easy it is for the needs of disabled people to be lost under the pressures from other high profile projects.
Introducing Ealing HELP - a website for parents and carers
Posted by Maurice on June 02 2006 - 12:23:21

Be sure to check out Ealing HELP at www.ealinghelp.org.uk. It's a brand new website that has just gone online and its packed full of information for parents and carers of children with disabilities in the borough of Ealing.

This site has been developed by Ealing Council, Ealing Primary Care Trust and Mencap in partnership with parents.

Please feel free to go and have a read, but also to join in with the interactive message boards and share information, ideas and advice.

The site has not officially been launched yet, so any feedback, comments, hints or suggestions would be most welcome. Details are on the front page of Ealing HELP. Click on the screenshot of the site on the right and take a look for yourself!
