The ‘Work Foundations' Project offers a unique opportunity for Ealing Mencap to work with individuals with learning disabilities/difficulties to improve their work skills and move towards paid employment. Paid employment brings greater independence and self worth and helps people to take control of their lives. ‘Work Foundations' makes this possible by supporting people in a wide range of jobs that meet their individual needs and choices. Ealing Mencap work closely with employers, explaining the benefits of employing people with a learning disability and helping them to fully include people with a learning disability into their workforces.

3Cs is a free, confidential service for families of all children with special needs, living/working in the boroughs of Ealing, Hounslow, Hammersmith & Fulham. We provide counselling at venues in Ealing, Hounslow and Brentford; all are wheelchair accessible. We offer individual, couple and family work. To contact 3Cs please ring Linda on 07813 095 383.

Carers Together is the name of regular meetings for carers of people with learning disabilities. It is an opportunity to meet other carers, discuss issues and concerns, share thoughts and ideas, hear from professionals about their work and share concerns and experiences with them and other carers and access information and advice.

The project supports groups of adults with learning disabilities to speak up in Ealing. It supports Ealing Partners, a speaking up club for people with learning disabilities. Anybody with a learning disability who lives in Ealing can join. The Partners Power Group are a group people with learning disabilities who ‘Speak Up’ on the Learning Disability Partnership Board. The Partners Power group is elected once a year.

The Housing Project at Ealing Mencap can support people to try to find housing. We can give information on housing options, and can support people in bidding for their own place to live.

This project is for adults and children with learning disabilities, and their carers, whether they are parent carers or others...

The Peer Advocacy Project works with people who find it hard to take part in speaking up or self-advocacy groups - such as the people who use the Short Break Service and Special Care. It supports people to use self advocacy and peer advocacy.

The Person Centred Planning Project works with people who are going through changes in their lives and who are referred by the Commissioning Team or Community Learning Disability Team. It helps people by working with them and those who are important to them to plan what they want to do. The project can help with individualised budgets and support brokerage.

This project helps people with learning disabilities who live at home with their carers to plan for a time when the carer is no longer able to support them. Continued...

Supercare is an employment training programme for adults which helps develop both practical and social skills.

The SVP is a volunteering buddying scheme that offers practical support such as cleaning and gardening to the elderly in their homes and gardens.

This project supports young disabled people leaving school and college. We provide support to young disabled people and their families aged 13-25 years in their transition to adulthood.

The Travel Buddy Project trains people with a learning disability to act as ‘Travel Buddies’ or escorts for other people with a learning disability who cannot travel around independently.

Giving one-to-one support, we teach young people with a learning disability how to travel to and from school or college from home independently, and to cope with problems that may arise on the journey.

The Value Life Project, formally known as Home Based Respite, offers a one to one short break service for adults living at home with their family carer. It enables a carer and the person they care for to have a short break from each other. Respite sessions are generally 2 to 3 hours on a once a week or fortnightly basis...
